Organizational and Disciplinary Changes in Social Sciences in Mexico (Spanish Edition)
Category: Unknown-2

How has social science research responded to recent transformations in educational and scientific policies in Mexico? This study aims to answer the question by investigating the comparative capabilities of universities and non-university research centers to drive scientific research. To this end, it had to descend to the academic base, where the work of research and teaching is carried out, in order to describe and explain the processes of change in the disciplines in their most immediate organizational context. The research applies the sociology of higher education and organization theory to the evolution of the contents, value orientations, and organizational formats of research in a time of profound change. The five case studies in institutions of various types allow the authors to point out the different directions of research in the social sciences, and on this basis make proposals for educational and scientific policy.
